Heather Plint

June 9-11

Mixed-media artist Heather Plint graduated in 1991 from University of Alberta with a Ph.D. in Geology. Her long career as a geologist and her passion for rocks and the natural world has strongly influenced her art.

“I am a self-taught artist with the help of art classes, workshops and other artists in and around Calgary. Creating, including drawing, painting and sculpture in clay, has always been part of my life. I began working with acrylic media in earnest in 2009. My art is about experimentation and emotional expression. I am drawn to the interplay of colour, form and texture and enjoy experimenting with the physical properties of various media. For me, art is an engaging, investigative process. It is about the journey, being in the moment and the joy of creating.”

Heather has shown her work in her NW Calgary community at the “Art in Dalhousie” spring art show, sold her work at fund raisers in 2015 and 2016 and has recently completed her second commissioned piece.
