Vinyasa Flow practice: we will start our days with a gentle, yet energizing vinyasa flow practice suitable for all levels. We will start with a short meditation, followed by a gentle warm up including breath work, and then move into some flowing sequences to warm up the body, before we move into some deeper poses. You will move and stretch all parts of your body. Different versions of poses will be offered, so you can explore within your own body where you need to go.
Yoga poses are like the paintings we end up with in Danielle's class, no one will look the same! Focusing inward by being present on your mat, concentrating on your breath and your own body is one of the best ways to get those creative juices flowing for your art projects. No prerequisites or any level of flexibility required, just a willingness to have fun, explore and accept your own body.
Yin/Restorative practice: we will focus on well deserved relaxation and gentle stretches after a day of working and playing with paint. Rather than focusing on our muscles, we will learn to relax our muscles so we can get deeper into our joints, connective tissue and fascia, allowing gravity to help us open up into target areas over time. Poses are done either sitting our laying down, and held for several minutes to allow the body to open up gently and safely.
What to bring:
Yoga mat (affordable options available at Walmart, Winners, Sportcheck, etc)
2 Foam/wood blocks (ditto)
Small pillow and blanket, optional

''I started practicing yoga 5 years ago, and immediately fell in love with it. I love both the physical and mental aspects that yoga allows me to explore. The increased awareness of my own body and thoughts has made a huge difference in my life! Yoga is not competitive, achievement oriented, or about achieving a certain 'look'. It is about exploring your own body and mind, and working from wherever it is you are at.
Because I am so passionate about yoga, and wanted to both deepen my own practice and learn how to share it with others, I recently completed my 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training. I travelled to Agonda, Goa, India this past winter and obtained my certificate in Ashtanga - Vinyasa Flow Yoga at Sampoorna Yoga, which is a registered yoga school with Yoga Alliance.
During my time there, I studied yoga philosophy, anatomy, asanas (poses), alignment and adjustment, as well as teaching principles. My teaching style is active, and focused on correct and safe alignment."
