Claudie. Original Handcrafted Jewelry

June 1 - 10

Creating wearable art by mimicking the intricacies of nature and the world around us

I have studied jewelry and metal arts for many years, training at Alberta College of Art and Design, and Chinook Learning Services in Calgary, Canada.

I have studied drawing, painting, pottery, design, ceramics, glass, metals, lapidary and fibre arts most of my life.

Most of my designs reflect my fascination with nature and my attempts to recreate these patterns in metal and stone, by creating unique and wearable art jewelry.

I enjoy working with metals, exploring different techniques such as forming, forging, etching, casting, reticulating, sintering, soldering and finally finishing and applying a patina to the metals in order to coax my final vision into life. I enjoy working with a variety of metals including gold, silver, bronze, copper, steel and titanium and niobium.

Original Handcrafted Jewelry began with a single ivy leaf, its shape and texture captured in fine silver, and grew as the obsession took over. Each technique explored created a new path for me to wander along until another path opened.
